Evan Skills + Skill Build Guide

Note 3: The Skill Build that have + (Skill Name) (From Quest) means the suggested skill you can put the SP given from quest into. It is NOT mandatory to follow it.
Note 4: All Quest Activation Level are as of Pre-Chaos. It is unknown if they are changed in the Chaos Update. I will update them as soon as I obtain more information.

Level 11 : 3 Magic Missile
Level 12 : 3 Magic Missile + 1 Magic Missile (From Quest)
Level 13 : 3 Magic Missile + 2 Magic Missile (From Quest)

MP Saving Build (For New Players or the unfunded)
Level 10 : 3 Magic Missile+ 1 Magic Missile (From Quest)
Level 11 : 3 Dragon Soul
Level 12 : 3 Dragon Soul + 1 Dragon Soul (From Quest)

Level 19 : 3 Magic Missile
Level 20 : 3 Magic Missile (Maxed)

End Results –
Maxed Magic Missile
Maxed Dragon Soul

Reasons –
Since Magic Missile is the only aggressive skill for Evan at 1st Mastery, you have to pump it, that is a must. You can stop pumping it at level 4 to prevent the MP Cost to get any higher which pumping Dragon Soul which is a passive skill which gives free M.ATK. Please take note that the damage range will be far apart and lower damage will be done in this build which may hinder your training.

Level 22 : 3 Fire Circle + 1 Fire Circle (From Quest)

Level 28 : 3 Teleport + 1 Teleport (From Quest)
Level 29 : 3 Teleport
Level 30 : 3 Teleport (Maxed)

End Results –
Maxed Fire Circle
Maxed Teleport

Reasons –
Fire Circle is very useful since it is a mobbing skill, hence it recommended to max it first. Pumping Level 1 Teleport is for transportation uses since Evan has many Quests to do.

Suggested Skill Builds

The Only Suggested Build (Best for MCers and PQers)
Level 30 : 3 Magic Guard + 2 Magic Guard (From Quest)
Level 31 : 3 Magic Guard
Level 32 : 3 Magic Guard + 1 Magic Guard (From Quest) [If you had trouble getting Magic Guard Mastery Book, pump Lightning Bolt after pumping your Magic Guard to Level 5]
Level 33 : 3 Magic Guard + 1 Magic Guard (From Quest)

Level 38 : 3 Lightning Bolt
Level 39 : 3 Lightning Bolt
Level 40 : 3 Lightning Bolt (Maxed)

End Results –
Maxed Lightning Bolt
Maxed Magic Guard

Reasons –
Magic Guard can help Evan in MCs and PQs from dying easily due to its low HP. However, you can pump Lightning Bolt first if you think it is useful.

4th Mastery
Advancement Level : Level 40 (Automatically Adv. Upon Meeting the Requirement)
Dragon Overview :

Spell MasteryIncreases Magic Mastery and Magic Attack.
Type : Passive (Supportive)

Level 1 : Magic Mastery +14%; Magic Attack +1

Level 20 : -34 MP; 355% Damage; 90% probability of freezing

Elemental ResetTemporarily turns all elemental attacks into non-elemental attacks.
Type : Active (Buff – Supportive)
Note : This is the same skill as Flame Wizard’s Elemental Reset.

Level 1 : -14 MP; For 120 seconds it decreases 10% of the attack element
Level 5 : -30 MP; For 200 seconds it decreases 50% of the attack element
Level 10: -50 MP; For 300 seconds it decreases 100% of the attack element

Suggested Skill Builds

Stable Damage Build
Level 40 : 3 Magic Mastery
Level 41 : 3 Magic Mastery + 1 Magic Mastery (From Quest)
Level 42 : 3 Magic Mastery + 3 Ice Breath (From Quest)
Level 43 : 3 Ice Breath
Level 44 : 3 Ice Breath
Level 45 : 3 Ice Breath
Level 46 : 3 Ice Breath + 3 Ice Breath (From Quest)
Level 47 : 2 Ice Breath (Maxed);1 Elemental Reset
Level 48 : 3 Elemental Reset
Level 49 : 3 Elemental Reset
Level 50 : 3 Elemental Reset

End Results –
Maxed Magic Mastery
Maxed Ice Breath
Maxed Elemental Reset

Reasons –
Magic Mastery has to be maxed first to provide a more stable damage. Next, Ice Breath is maxed as it is a mobbing skill and definitely should be pumped first before Elemental Reset.

5th Mastery
Advancement Level : Level 50 (Automatically Adv. Upon Meeting the Requirement)
Dragon Overview :

Magic FlareCreates a magical flare of light that surrounds and attacks monsters.

Suggested Skill Builds

Aggressive Build
Level 50 : 3 Magic Flare [You can pump level 1 Magic Shield here]
Level 51 : 3 Magic Flare + 3 Magic Flare (From Quest)
Level 52 : 3 Magic Flare
Level 53 : 3 Magic Flare
Level 54 : 3 Magic Flare
Level 55 : 2 Magic Flare (Maxed); 1 Magic Shield
Level 56 : 3 Magic Shield
Level 57 : 2 Magic Shield + 4 Magic Shield (From Quest) (Maxed); 1 Slow
Level 58 : 3 Slow
Level 59 : 3 Slow
Level 60 : 3 Slow (Maxed)

End Results –
Maxed Magic Flare
Maxed Magic Shield
Maxed Slow

Reasons –
As Magic Shield is not much useful for training or PQing and can be irritating to keep using it after every 40 secs especially if you are training, it is better to pump Magic Flare for damage. You can pump 1 Magic Shield at level 50 for protection if you think that is will come into handy. Max Slow last for obvious reason.

6th Mastery
Advancement Level : Level 60 (Automatically Adv. Upon Meeting the Requirement)
Dragon Overview :

Critical MagicEvery time you use a magic attack, you have a chance to cause a critical cast.
Type : Passive (Supportive)
Mastery Book: Requires Critical Magic Mastery Book (Only for GMS)

Level 10 : -30 MP; 0 seconds cooldown

Suggested Skill Builds

Aggressive Build
Level 60 : 3 Dragon Thrust
Level 61 : 3 Dragon Thrust
Level 62 : 3 Dragon Thrust + 1 Dragon Thrust (From Quest)
Level 63 : 3 Dragon Thrust
Level 64 : 3 Dragon Thrust
Level 65 : 3 Dragon Thrust
Level 66 : 1 Dragon Thrust (Maxed); 2 Magic Booster [You can choose to max Critical Magic first]
Level 67 : 3 Magic Booster + 1 Magic Booster (From Quest)
Level 68 : 3 Magic Booster [If you have troubles getting Magic Booster Mastery Book, then leave it at Level 5 and move on to Critical Magic]
Level 69 : 2 Magic Booster; 1 Critical Magic
Level 70 : 3 Critical Magic
Level 71 : 3 Critical Magic [If you have troubles getting Critical Magic Mastery Book, then leave it at Level 5]
Level 72 : 3 Critical Magic
Level 73 : 3 Critical Magic
Level 74 : 2 Critical Magic (Maxed); 1 Dragon Blink
Level 75 : 3 Dragon Blink
Level 76 : 3 Dragon Blink
Level 77 : 3 Dragon Blink (Maxed)
Level 78 : 3 Magic Booster
Level 79 : 3 Magic Booster
Level 80 : 3 Magic Booster (Maxed)

End Results –
Maxed Critical Magic
Maxed Dragon Thrust
Maxed Magic Booster
Maxed Dragon Blink

Reasons –
Dragon Thrust is a mobbing skill and the damage is higher than Ice Breath, therefore maxing it first is easier to train. Pump Level 11 Magic Booster is needed to boost up the speed. (Note : Level 11 Magic Booster is -3 casting speed already). Personally, I think that casting speed is more important than Critical Magic. Max Dragon Blink next before maxing Magic Booster since pumping Magic Booster any higher than level 11 will only increase its duration.

Attack Speed Build
Level 60 : 3 Magic Booster
Level 61 : 3 Magic Booster [If you have troubles getting Magic Booster Mastery Book, then leave it at Level 5 and move on to Dragon Thrust]
Level 62 : 3 Magic Booster + 1 Magic Booster (From Quest)
Level 63 : 1 Magic Booster; 2 Dragon Thrust
Level 64 : 3 Dragon Thrust
Level 65 : 3 Dragon Thrust
Level 66 : 3 Dragon Thrust

Level 68 : 3 Dragon Thrust
Level 69 : 2 Dragon Thrust (Maxed); 1 Critical Magic
Level 70 : 3 Critical Magic
Level 71 : 3 Critical Magic [If you have troubles getting Critical Magic Mastery Book, then leave it at Level 5]
Level 72 : 3 Critical Magic
Level 73 : 3 Critical Magic
Level 74 : 2 Critical Magic (Maxed); 1 Dragon Blink
Level 75 : 3 Dragon Blink
Level 76 : 3 Dragon Blink
Level 77 : 3 Dragon Blink (Maxed)
Level 78 : 3 Magic Booster
Level 79 : 3 Magic Booster
Level 80 : 3 Magic Booster (Maxed)

End Results –
Maxed Critical Magic
Maxed Dragon Thrust
Maxed Magic Booster
Maxed Dragon Blink

Reasons –
Magic Booster will increase your casting speed for the other skills and can boost your training speed. (At Level 11, Magic Booster already is -3 speed) Dragon Thrust is a mobbing skill and therefore can further boost your training speed. Max Critical Magic next followed by Dragon Blink are pretty self-explanatory. Max Magic Booster last as it will only increase in duration after level 11.

7th Mastery

Level 91 : 3 Dragon Spark
Level 92 : 3 Dragon Spark
Level 93 : 3 Dragon Spark
Level 94 : 1 Dragon Spark (Maxed); 2 Killer Wings
Level 95 : 3 Killer Wings
Level 96 : 3 Killer Wings
Level 97 : 2 Killer Wings (Maxed); 1 Magic Resistance
Level 98 : 3 Magic Resistance
Level 99 : 3 Magic Resistance
Level 100 : 3 Magic Resistance (Maxed)

End Results –
Maxed Magic Amplification
Maxed Breath
Maxed Killer Wings
Maxed Magic Resistance
Maxed Dragon Spark

Reasons –
Max Fire Breath first if you are fighting monsters that are weak to fire. Max Magic Amplification next so that your damage will be higher. Max Dragon Spark next is pretty self-explanatory. (You can max Fire Breath last after Dragon Spark if you prefer spam-ability) Magic Resistance is the least useful skill in this mastery, so it should be pumped the last.

End Results –
Maxed Dragon Fury
Maxed Earthquake
Maxed Phantom Imprint
Maxed Recovery Aura
Maxed Onyx Shroud

Reasons –
Pumping level 1 Recovery Aura can help you to save some MP when you are spamming skills. Level 1 Dragon Fury is to gain some Magic Attack bonus. Maxing Earthquake which is a mobbing skill and with its huge range, training will be easier. Dragon Fury will increase your magic attack and will be useful when combined with Magic Amplification. Onyx Shroud is maxed last as I think it is not as much use as the others as avoidability does not matter much. Recovery Aura on the other hand can recover MP at least saving MP.

Simple Skill Build –
Maxed Blessing of the Onyx
Maxed Blaze
Maxed Dark Fog
Maxed Soul Stone
Maxed Onyx Will

Note: This is a calculated/estimated value, it may turn out differently in-game.
Calculations: 1 Level Up -> 3 SP, 1st – 6th -> Extra 3 SP at each activation level, 7th-10th Mastery -> Extra 5 SP at each activation level
Therefore,
1st Mastery – 11 X 3 SP + 7 SP (From Quests) = 40 SP (Max all Skills)
2nd Mastery – 11 X 3 SP + 7 SP (From Quests) = 40 SP (Max all Skills)
3rd Mastery – 11 X 3 SP + 7 SP (From Quests) = 40 SP (Max all Skills)
4th Mastery – 11 X 3 SP + 7 SP (From Quests) = 40 SP (Max all Skills)
5th Mastery – 11 X 3 SP + 7 SP (From Quests) = 40 SP (Max all Skills)
6th Mastery – 21 X 3 SP + 2 SP (From Quests) = 65 SP (Max all Skills)
7th Mastery – 20 X 3 SP + 5 = 65 SP (Max all Skills)
8th Mastery – 20 X 3 SP + 5 = 65 SP (Max all Skills)
9th Mastery – 40 X 3 SP + 5 = 125 SP (Max all Skills)
10th Mastery – 40 X 3 SP + 5 = 125 SP (Max all Skills)

Hence, in conclusion, Evan is able to max all skills.

Q & A for Evan

Character Development/Creation –
Q : How to create Evan?

A : The Usual Method, just that you need to click the Evan Pic (The Pic can be found at the top of the post)

Q : I would like to change class to Evan, can I?

A : Of course not.

Q : So….just what is so unique about Evan? Does Evan use Combo Too?

A : Evan has 2 unique features. 1st is that Evan command its dragon to attack instead of attacking himself while the other is that Evan do not have need to have job advancement because it is automatically advanced upon reaching the level. Evan does not use Combo, Combo is meant to be a unique thing for Aran.

Q : Since Evan does not have Max MP Increase, won’t Evan’s MP be low?

A : No. Evan MP is not low because at every advancement of mastery, Evan’s MP will be increased quite significantly.

Q : What about Evan’s HP? Will it be as low as a Magician?

A : It will be relatively low compared to other classes. However, Evan has higher HP than the regular Magician.

Skills Related –
Q : Will Evan have Bless of Fairy/Empress Blessing?

A : Yes. It is the same formula.

Q : Is it true that Evan will have more SP than Aran or KoC or Adventurers?

A : Yes. This is because Evan gain additional SP from quest.

Q : When Magic Guard and Magic Shield is combined, will that means that my HP will not be reduced when hit?

A : Of course not. Magic Shield will take effect first (which means u will receive 70% of the damage) and Magic Guard will then minus 70% of the reduced damage from your MP instead of HP.
For example, when you receive 1000 damage from a monster, Magic Shield will reduce it to 700 damage while Magic Guard will split it to 210 damage to your HP and 490 damage to your MP.

Q : Can I save my SP gained from 1 Master Level for another Master Level?

A : No. Anyway, Evan is able to max all skills in the mastery.

Q : Evan has long casting time, isn’t that bad?

A : Indeed, Evan main weakness lies in the long casting time of the skills. However, this is compensated with Evan’s high damage. Also, Evan’s Skill Delay (another word for casting time) was significantly reduced in the MapleStory Chaos Update.

Equipments Related to Evan –
Q : What equipments does Evan wears?

A : Evan is able to wear any equipments that a regular Magician wears. However, do take note that Evan is only able to command his Dragon when wielding a Staff or Wand.

Q : How do I obtain Dragon Glasses?

A : You are able to obtain it by completing the Event Quest by Cassandra. Do Take Note that you will not be able to obtain it anymore after the event period ends. This is the same for the Dragon Glasses’ Scrolls.

Q : Isn’t Dragon’s Glasses useless since it only gives HP and MP?

A : No, it is not useless because you will gain 4 100% scrolls in total to scroll it. (+2 WA,+4 Ma, +2 All Stats in total). Take Note that the scrolls are not 100% in GMS.

Q : So…….Dragon’s Glasses will still have 1 more slot, what use does it have?

A : There is a use for it, you can scroll it with a normal Eye Accessory Scroll or Chaos Scroll.

Other Stuffs Related to Evan –
Q : Will there be a free slot given for Evan?

A: Yes.

Q : Will there an Evan ‘exclusive’ wardrobe?

A : Yes. All Cash Items will therefore cannot be transferred unless of the same class.

Q : Does Evan start on Maple Island?

A : No. Evan starts off at Utah’s Farm

Q : Can I do skip the Evan Quests?

A : I will strongly advise you not to do it as some Quests gives SP and the Quests are chained (meaning, the quest requires you to complete the quests before it).
